My bread starter went too sour on me and I decided to build it again from the bottom up. Flour, Water, Microbes, Salt, these are the Four Elements of what is perhaps the most primal of foods. 

I have written before about the inscrutability of pears. Pears are picked off the tree before they ripen, a prerequisite that triggers the final stages of the life of the fruit – Ripeness and Senescence.
